Vanarama National League club Gateshead have announced that five players have been told they can find new clubs.
Wingers Mitch Brundle and Toby Ajala are amongst the names of players that have been told their time at the International Stadium is over.
The other three players released are young trio Nick Cassidy, Shaun MacDonald and Jack Elliott.
A new playing contract has been offered to JJ O’Donnell after the midfielder made a successful return from injury after over two years out with Sesamoiditis.
The club confirmed that discussions are ongoing with captain Liam Hogan, full back George Smith and midfielder Gus Mafuta.
Amongst the players retained by the Heed are strikers Danny Johnson and Jordan Burrow, defender James Bolton and attacking midfielder Wes York.
A statement released by the club said “The following players have been retained for the next campaign; James Montgomery, James Bolton, Manny Smith, Jamal Fyfield, Wes York, Danny Johnson, Danny Burns, Dan Hanford, Jordan Burrow, Macauley Langstaff, Nyal Bell, Luke Hannant, Paddy McLaughlin and Tom White.
After appearing in the final four matches of the season, JJ O’Donnell has been offered a playing contract for next season.
Discussions are also taking place with the following players; George Smith, Liam Hogan and Gus Mafuta.
However, the following players have not received an offer and will be free to find a new club; Mitch Brundle, Toby Ajala, Nick Cassidy, Shaun MacDonald and Jack Elliott.
Decisions regarding the Under-19s squad will be made following their final league match of the season on Monday 15 May”
Gateshead finished in eighth position in the National League table in Neil Aspin’s first full season in charge of his hometown club.
