Guiseley manager Marcus Bignot has insisted that size does not matter, as despite having a small squad and a small budget, he is very happy with the club’s recruitment this summer.

One of those new signings, Scott Garner, has been named as captain for the season too. He will lead the Lions out as they travel to face his former side Boston United in their opening National League North fixture on Saturday.

Bignot showed his confidence ahead of the new season, saying: “There was a mass overhaul this summer and recruitment was key but I’m very happy with the squad.

“The side has a new look and I’m delighted with the balance we have.

“It’s only a small squad because of our tight budget but there are still options and competition for places.”

Bignot is already thinking forward and he said: “”I’m confident going into the Boston game but we have to look beyond that.”
