Former England C assistant-manager Steve Burr has been appointed as the new manager of Southport.
Burr met the Port squad at training this morning.
The highly-experienced ex-Kidderminster Harriers and Chester FC manager has stepped into the Merseyrail Community Stadium hot-seat following the departure of Andy Bishop.
This follows after an unsatisfactory start to the season with the Port winning just one league fixture out of their first eight.
Fifty-five-year-old Burr takes charge immediately with Southport’s Board striving for stability.
Chairman Charlie Clapham said: “I have known Steve a long time and we are all really looking forward to his input taking us all forward. Steve offers so much in the way of experience, desire and previous success.”
Burr will be working closely with new Board member Liam Watson and Mark Creighton as the squad is strengthened going forward.
