Harrogate Town have added to their ranks with the signing of 21-year-old left-back Ben O’Hanlon.
O’Hanlon represented England at under-16, 17 and under-18 level while progressing through the ranks at home-town club Wolverhampton Wanderers before signing a professional deal in 2014.
Having joined the club as an under-9, the full-back then gained experience at National League North level through a series of loan spells.
O’Hanlon said of his move to Town: “Everyone that I have spoken to about the club has given it good references.
“Going full-time next season gives us a big chance of promotion as well which is obviously the aim of everyone at the club.
“The intentions of the club are going in the right direction and I want to play my part and do what I can to help.”
O’Hanlon’s first loan spell was with then-National League North outfit Corby Town during the 2015/16 season, before the 2016/17 season saw a loan spell at AFC Telford United sandwiched between two periods spent playing for Nuneaton Town.
As well as signing a professional deal towards the end of his time at Molineux, O’Hanlon’s latest loan spell at Nuneaton involved training on a full-time basis, though the 21-year-old insists Town is a step in the right direction: “The facilities at Harrogate are at a totally different level and I know that here I will be able to push on and hopefully help the team out.
“Hopefully I can play every game, stay fit and hit a good level this season.
“I want to hit the ground running, which I think personally I have done the last two years playing at this level.
“Non-League football is more physical, you learn different ways of how to use your body in the men’s game and you learn even different things technically.
“I think the more games you play and the more people you play with the more you learn and the more you understand.
“I am learning every training session so I just want to keep that going and see how far I can go if I can get to the top and this is part of it then that is my ambition.”
The 21-year-old becomes Harrogate`s seventh signing ahead of July’s return to pre-season training.
