Busy Leyton Orient have announced the arrival of experienced defender George Elokobi.

The former Colchester United defender became the second arrival from League Two Colchester United, joining his former U’s team-mate Macauley Bonne, and has agreed a two-year deal in E10.

Born in Cameroon, the powerful defender moved to England at the age of 16 and signed for Dulwich Hamlet, before joining Colchester United following a successful trial in 2004.

Following four years with the U’s of which included a loan spell at Chester in 2005, Elokobi joined Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee in January 2008.

The defender quickly became a regular in the starting XI at the Molineux Stadium, and played a key role in helping the Club achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2009.

Having helped Wolves achieve promotion the defender went on to make over 100 appearances before departing in 2014 having also enjoyed loan spells with both Nottingham Forest and Bristol City.

Elokobi then agreed a one-year deal with Oldham Athletic ahead of the 2014/15 campaign and made a total of twenty-seven appearances during his year with the Latics before returning to Colchester.

In his two years with the U’s, Elokobi made a total of forty-eight appearances and also spent time on loan at then-National League side Braintree Town last season
