Fire-fighters were called to Buxton FC’s Silverlands home last night following a break in under the main stand where a small fire was started in the manager’s office.

This followed another break in earlier in the week when a window in the canteen was buxton football clubbroken and a disused cash register was taken.

Police scene of crime officers have been at the ground this morning gathering evidence and security at the Silverlands has now been increased .

The fire under the main stand has caused a vast amount of smoke damage on walls, ceilings and fixtures, that had only just been painted in readiness for the new season, and will now have to be repaired along with damaged doors.

Club officials are asking supporters to please lend a hand if they can.
