The wait is almost over for Cambridge City Football Club, as councillors decide today whether to grant it permission to build brand a new stadium.
The club has resubmitted an application to build a new ground in Sawston, after its previous bid was rejected following a last-minute appeal.
The new plans include a 3,000-capacity stadium on green belt land to the north west of Dales Manor Business Park, as well as a floodlit grass pitch, full-sized training pitch and 500 parking spaces.
The club’s original application was approved by South Cambridgeshire District Council in June 2014, but this decision was overturned following an appeal by a local resident in March 2016.
In February this year the Court of Appeal upheld the decision, after it was challenged by the club.
Now a completely new application has been made, and will be considered by the council’s planning committee this morning at its offices in Cambourne.
