Lee Clarke and Dan Gleeson will remain in temporary charge of St Neots Town for at least one more game.

Director of football Iain Parr has notified The Hunts Post in the past few minutes that a planned managerial announcement today will not now take place.

It is understood that club chiefs had moved for Bedford Town boss Jon Taylor to take over as boss at the Premier Plus Stadium for a second time. He previously managed the club in their United Counties League days.

Sources in Bedfordshire confirm talks have taken place, but no agreement could be finalised.

Taylor was also linked with the St Neots job following the departure of David Batch as boss last January.

Andy Davies ended up taking temporary charge for the remainder of the 2015/16 season before being appointed on a permament basis in the summer.

But Davies resigned 10 days ago with Saints sitting in the Premier Division relegation zone – a place where they remain following heavy home defeats to St Ives Town and Biggleswade Town under interim bosses Clarke and Gleeson.

That duo will now be in charge again when Saints go to Dunstable Town in their first fixture of 2017 on January 2.
