Second year scholar Matty Gillam has joined Stalybridge Celtic on `work experience` from League One side Rochdale.
Gillam was one of three youth team players to be included in Rochdale`s first-team squad for this summer’s pre-season trip to Tenerife.
He has already netted 6 goals in five games for Dale’s under-18 side this season.
Rochdale manager Keith Hill said: “For me, Gilly has got to go out and play real men’s football now.
“He’s not going to be involved with us this side of Christmas, although he will train with us. I think the youth team is too easy for him, so I need to get him parked in real men’s football. It’ll give him his man stripes, if you like”.
