AFC Totton have announced the resignations of Chairman Andy Straker and of Vice Chairman Roy Edwards.
In a statement on their website the Stags said “As many of you will be aware Andy has been suffering ill health in recent months. Due to this he feels that it is in the best interests of the football club if he steps aside and allows the club to find someone to succeed him.
“With Andy unable to deal with the day to day running of the club Vice chairman Roy Edwards has been doing a commendable job dealing with the increased workload. However, Roy has recently received a promotion in his daytime job which will result in an increased workload for him to deal with on that front. Due to this Roy feels it is best for all concerned if he also steps down.
“Roy has told the club that he will be around to ensure that things run smoothly until such time that a new Chairman and Vice Chairman are elected by the club members.
“The club would like to take this opportunity to thank both Roy an Andy for everything that they have done in recent years. The pair of them have worked well together steering the club through the financial troubles which they inherited in 2013/14.
“Because of the resignations, the club has called a Special General Meeting in the Monarch Suite for Wednesday 21st December 7.30pm where members can elect a Chairman, Vice Chairman and Treasurer.
“We would like to reiterate that this is a MEMBERS ONLY meeting. Non members will not be permitted entry. ALL members must have their membership cards with them to enter the meeting”
