Chairman Bob Andrews this week reflected on Tamworth FC’s ill-fated National League North campaign but insisted: “We will be back.”

The Lambs were relegated to their lowest standing in the non-league pyramid since 1997 after blowing a 3-1 lead at home to Chorley on Saturday. They were beaten 4-3, leaving them relegated with a game to go.

But chairman Andrews says the club will regroup and face up to the challenge ahead – and wants fans to stick with the club.

He said: “Of course, I am very disappointed with the way things have gone this season.

“We feel, as a club, we belong at a higher level than we will now find ourselves in but you have to earn that right and we haven’t delivered on the pitch this season.

“So our mission has to be to get straight back up next year. We are big enough and strong enough to fight back from this and we will do.”
