Stockport County have ambitions of reaching the Championship, director of football Simon Wilson has said.
Wilson was announced as County’s new DoF last February following local businessman Mark Stott’s January takeover.
Despite the far-reaching difficulties presented by the ongoing pandemic, it has been an exciting time for all connected to the club, with the Hatters harbouring justified hopes of returning to the EFL after a decade away.
Speaking as part of an interview with Sky Sports, Wilson said:
“Can you take a team from the fifth division through to the Championship? That is our vision.
“(Mark Stott) wanted to do that classic group of guys thing – let’s buy a local football club and take it through the leagues.”
