A Chatham Town FC player has become the first contestant to be fired by Lord Sugar in this year’s Apprentice.

Danny Grant, who signed for the team this season, appeared on the BBC One show when it returned for its 13th season last night.

But his run was short-lived – the first episode saw Danny become project manager of the losing boys team who went head to head with the girls to sell burgers, and ended with him being fired.

The Chatham Town footballer now says he doesn’t want to see another burger anytime soon.

Speaking prior to the show he said he’d always had a keen interest in business and lots of ideas.

He added: “I travelled all over the world selling F1 cars and helicopters but I left to pursue my own business and spend more time with my 12-year-old son.”

The 32-year-old now sells activated carbon products which are used for teeth whitening and water purification.

In his audition tape he describes himself as happy, loyal, energetic and outgoing and said he was there to win and get that £250,000.

He also likened himself to Will Smith because “of the ears” and showed the other similarities by rapping the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme tune.
