Chelmsford City have completed the signing of striker Scott Fenwick.

27-year-old Fenwick joins the Clarets as a direct replacement for striker Thomas Hitchcock who, for personal reasons, will miss the remainder of the season. The young striker was born in Gateshead and made his way through the youth sides of Newcastle United, Sunderland and Middlesbrough before signing for Scottish side Gretna in 2009.

That same year Fenwick departed the Anvils before joining Newcastle Benfield in 2010. In August 2012 the front-man signed for Durham City, with whom he scored 18 goals from 32 appearances during his debut season.

The following season he continued his goalscoring exploits by netting 33 goals from 41 appearances. His prolific goalscoring earned him a move to fellow Northern League side Dunston UTS before he joined Hartlepool United in November 2014.

Fenwick made his professional debut eight days after signing, as a substitute in a 1-0 defeat against Southend United, however his first start was made on 22 November 2014 and he scored the Pools’ only goal in a 3-1 home defeat to York City. Unfortunately for Fenwick, an ankle injury ruled the striker out for six weeks and he returned just in time to secure Hartlepool’s survival from relegation in a 2-1 win over Exeter City.

In July 2016 Fenwick signed for York City and featured in The Minstermen’s Buildbase FA Trophy final win over Macclesfield Town as an unused substitute. At the end of the 2016-17 season Fenwick was released.

Since his departure from Bootham Crescent, Fenwick has played for Darlington and Naxxar Lions of the Maltese Premier League.
