Chelmsford City have announced the loan signing of Harry Wright.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper joins the Clarets on loan for the remainder of the season from Sky Bet Championship side Ipswich Town.

Wright, son of former Town shot-stopper Richard, signed a contract extension in December 2018 – retaining his status as a member of the playing staff at Portman Road until 2020. The Suffolk outfit have the option to extend that by a further twelve months.

The talented goalkeeper is yet to make a senior appearance for the Tractor Boys, but Wright has been training with the first team alongside goalkeeping coach Jimmy Walker for much of this season. Current Town boss Paul Lambert was full of praise for the goalkeeper.

“He’s very good with the ball with his feet.” Lambert said. “Harry is still growing, is still developing, but I think it’s a great experience for him as well.

“And when he trains with us, and any of the kids who have trained with us, they’ve never let themselves down.”

Wright is eligible for immediate selection in tomorrow’s Vanarama National League South tie at Truro City.
