Chelmsford City have signed Albanian goalkeeper Kleton Perntreou as cover.
Perntreou was born in the Albanian capital Tirana before moving to Athens aged five. In 2012 the goalkeeper moved to England, where he had a trial with Bristol City. This trial proved successful as he then signed for the Robins’ Under-18s.
The following year he was offered a professional contract at Ashton Gate, however the 23-year-old instead opted to sign for Scottish side Hibernian. He spent the 2013-14 season in the Under-20 team before eventually making his senior debut in the Scottish Championship the following season, coming on as a half-time substitute against Cowdenbeath on 8 November 2014. During this game, Perntreou lined-up against current Clarets striker Kudus Oyenuga.
Perntreou started the following game, against Queen of the South, but first team opportunities proved to come at a premium and he was released at the end of the 2014-15 season. The 23-year-old then signed for Crystal Palace in July 2015, however, he was released by the London side in September 2017.
More recently, Perntreou signed for Welling United in October 2017, making two appearances during a brief spell with the Wings.
