Chelmsford City have announced the signing of Nathan McDonald.
McDonald, 27, joins the Clarets having spent last season as the number one during Braintree Town’s promotion campaign. The Iron overcame the odds to beat Hampton & Richmond Borough on penalties, during which McDonald saved one of the spot-kicks.
The experienced goalkeeper began his career with Southend United before joining the Iron for his first spell with the Club in July 2009. With playing time limited during his first couple of seasons, McDonald spent time on loan at AFC Sudbury before departing the Iron permanently in 2014 as he joined Enfield Town.
Missing out on promotion narrowly with Enfield, McDonald followed manager Bradley Quinton back to the Iron and featured heavily last season. McDonald impressed during both meetings with the Clarets last season, producing a number of good saves.
