Torquay United’s leading scorer Jamie Reid has been speaking to Devon Live about the close bond between him and Saikou Janneh.
They have scored 34 goals between them so far – Reid 21 in all competitions, Janneh 13 – and they will go head-to-head with another highly effective combination in Chelmsford City’s front men Rhys Murphy and Scott Fenwick at Plainmoor on Saturday.
Ex-Gulls loanee Murphy also has 21 goals to his credit, Fenwick eight.
Reid and Bristol City loanee Janneh have played together for nearly five months now and Reid says: “I am sure that’s got a lot to do with the goals we’ve scored.
“Over the last two seasons it’s felt like we’ve had a new team here nearly every other week.
“There was no chance to build any chemistry, no real bonding with anyone and that’s a major factor in how it went then.
“But now it feels like people want to be here and really want to play together, even the lads on loan.
“Playing with Saikou, we are starting to know each other’s games well.”
