Chester goalkeeper Theo Roberts has signed for Atherton Collieries on loan.
The 20-year-old former Wigan Athletic youngster impressed on loan at Buxton in the Evo-Stik Premier last season, helping Paul Phillips’ side into the play-offs. He now joins Colls in the same, albeit rebranded, division on a 28-day loan.
Manager Micheal Clegg told the club’s website: “He was so important for Buxton last year in this league and made a real name for himself.
“With losing Greg, I knew we had to get someone special in to replace him, we have done that with Theo. Him and Brad Lynch are two fantastic young players who we really look forward to working with, so far it’s been a great week for us. Hopefully we can sign one more before the week is done.
“Chris at the GK Network was excellent in supporting us find a keeper once we knew Greg was leaving. They have built an unbelievable goalkeeping community up there and he was great throughout.”
