Chester have signed left-back Josh Askew.

Askew joins the Blues from fellow National League North side Boston United.

The 22-year-old joins up with his former Salford City managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley.

On bringing in the former Curzon Ashton loanee, Johnson told Chester’s website:

“We’re absolutely thrilled that we’ve managed to sign Josh. When Joel (Taylor) left, there was only ever two players on a list that we’d have taken as a replacement, the other being Matty Waters obviously.”

Johnson went on to add: “He totally understands the predicament the club is in at the minute and has actually offered to play for free until we’re in a position to offer him something more concrete.”
