Chester FC could well have two new bodies in the squad for this weekend’s National League North clash with Darlington, Cheshire Live report.
Joint-manager Bernard Morley confirmed that he and Anthony Johnson were close to landing targets following their disappointing FA Trophy exit at the hands of Southport on Tuesday night, with a striker with a goal-scoring pedigree understood to be close to an initial loan move.
The Blues, who remain in the play-off places, have stuttered of late and are winless in five and goalless in four and their lack of incision in the final third was all too evident again in the 2-0 loss to the Sandgrounders on Tuesday.
The managers have been working hard in the past fortnight to address the situation and have stressed the need to freshen up the squad, and with Dominic Smalley heading out on loan to Hyde United and John Pritchard also expected to make a loan move elsewhere, it now looks like Chester have the capacity to make changes.
