Cheshire Live report Chester FC will appeal the red card shown to George Green during Tuesday night’s 1-0 Cheshire Senior Cup quarter final defeat at Nantwich Town.

Midfielder Green was shown a straight red by referee Sam Mulhall on 42 minutes for a slide challenge on Stoke City legend Ricardo Fuller, now at the Dabbers.

From the stands it looked like Green had won the ball cleanly but Mr Mulhall was having none of it and, despite having let Nantwich’s James Lawrie and Chester’s Scott Burton off with yellow cards for reckless tackles earlier in the half, handed Green his marching orders.

It was Green’s second red card in seven Chester games but there was a look of disbelief from the former Everton starlet and some of his teammates at the decision.
