Chesterfield have announced that academy coach Miguel Llera has left the club.

The 39-year-old former defender departs following John Sheridan’s appointment as manager earlier this week, with the exit described as being by mutual consent.

Spaniard Llera came to English football with MK Dons in 2008 before a stint with Charlton Athletic and briefly Blackpool.

He enjoyed the most successful spell of his time in England after joining Sheffield Wednesday, initially on loan in late-2011. Having signed under Gary Megson, Llera would become integral to the Owls side that pipped city rivals United to promotion in 2011/12, scoring crucial goals at the end of the season.

He played in the Championship in the following two seasons, scoring six more goals before ending his playing days at Scunthorpe United.
