After Saturday’s defeat at home to Chorley, Chesterfield manager John Sheridan explained that conceding sloppy goals meant his side fell to their first league defeat in four games.
“I was going into the game confident, we were on a decent run,” he said.
“We can’t concede the type of goals that we have conceded today. The goals put you under pressure and it allows them to get a foothold in the game.
“We gave ourselves too many problems. They are the sort of goals that we were conceding at the start of the season.
“At 2-1 we get back in the game and we nearly score. We can’t give those type of goals away.”
