Chesterfield manager James Rowe has said he did not expect new signing Fraser Kerr to be available.

The Scottish defender joined the club earlier this week from divisional rivals Torquay United.

Striker Scott Boden had made a move in the opposite direction late last month.

Speaking about ex-Gateshead and Hartlepool United man Kerr in his press conference this morning, Spireites boss Rowe said:

“I was very surprised that a player of that calibre and experience was available.

“He was very good on Tuesday and he brings in good competition for places.”
