Chesterfield manager James Rowe has spoken about new signing Alex Whittle, expressing his surprise that the recent Gloucester City player became available.
The former Boston United left-back completed a move to the Spireites earlier this month, having played for Rowe at Gloucester City this season.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of tonight’s FA Trophy fourth round tie with Boston United, Rowe said:
“We are really delighted to get Alex signed; I was really surprised he became a free agent. He brings a good experience in and around the level; he has played in League Two as well with Forest Green.
“He is at a good age for us and he brings competition for places. He can play multiple positions as well.
“A really good addition with great character. Alex is cup-tied tomorrow so he is unavailable.”
