Chesterfield FC have been given a fine of £12,500 owing to financial irregularities.

The recently-relegated Vanarama National League club admitted a charge of misconduct, having breached FA Rule C1. This relates to the Spireites allowing the CFC Football Development School Ltd. – therefore an external organisation – to pay two former players’ wages and not recording the payments on the club’s accounting records.

The Derbyshire club say that they will not be making any further comment on the matter.
