Chesterfield will be playing non-league football next season as the Spireites slipped out of the EFL for the first time since 1921.

Morecambe’s draw with Cambridge United leaves Chesterfield ten points adrift with only three games to go. Earlier this week, manager Jack Lester, who was a huge favourite as a striker for the club from 2007 to 2013, left his role as manager.

It has been a revolving managerial door in recent times at the club, with Paul Cook, Dean Saunders, Danny Wilson and Gary Caldwell all leaving in the past three years.
