The proposed takeover of Chesterfield by the club’s Community Trust is ‘close to completion’.
In an official statement, the Trust’s chairman Mike Goodwin said: “Detailed business plans are in place after completing due diligence and we are now looking to proceed with the purchase of the football club. We are awaiting final confirmation from our funding partners after the funding was agreed in principle.”
The Spireites, who were still in League One this time three years ago, remain in the relegation zone of the Vanarama National League, a point from safety after 34 games.
Goodwin added: “I would like to thank Ashley Carson for his valued help and co-operation. Dave Allen’s assistance in helping us get to this stage should also be recognised.”
