Young winger Ryan Hill turned out for Chesterfield, and scored, as a youthful Spireites team were beaten 4-2 at Matlock Town last night.
The Derbyshire Times report that Hill, who was named as a trialist on the team sheet, is without a club following his departure from Stoke City.
The 20-year-old netted a header in the second half of Monday night’s friendly with their Derbyshire neighbours. Luke Rawson had put Chesterfield in front before Matlock goals from Jordan Chappell, ex-Chesterfield youngster Jamie Jackson and Kieren Watson.
After Hill’s response, Michael Williams rounding off the scoring for the hosts.
