Chesterfield’s FA Cup fourth round qualifying game with Stockport County will be replayed.

It follows The FA ruling that Chesterfield’s loan player Jordan Cropper played in the match with the club having not submitted a copy of the loan permission to The FA prior to the registration deadline, in breach of competition rules.

Full-back Cropper rejoined the Spireites on loan from Burnley for the season back in August. Chesterfield had beaten Stockport on penalties in the game to advance to the first round proper, but the tie will now be replayed, and without Cropper.

Chesterfield chief executive John Croot said: “It is unfortunate that a technical issue resulted in an administrative procedure not being completed.

“The FA panel considered our submission, ruled that the tie would have to be replayed, and we have to accept their decision.”
