Young midfielder Josh Gregory has left Chorley.
The 20-year-old signed on at Victory Park after being released by Wigan Athletic in January, making three appearances for the first team during the 2017/18 campaign, as well as spending a loan period at Lancaster City.
Gregory signed on for a second season with The Magpies in May, before appearing in the opening two pre-season games against Euxton Villa and Blackburn Rovers.
“Josh is at an age where playing senior football is of paramount importance to his development,” manager Jamie Vermiglio explained to chorleyfc.com. “With an abundance of midfielders at the club I couldn’t guarantee him game time.
“He could have stayed, played some under-21 games and the odd first team game, but I don’t feel that would be fair. He agrees that he needs to get a season or two under his belt. If he does that then he’s capable of playing at a higher level. We wish all the best for the future.”
