Chorley have announced the permanent capture of first choice ‘keeper Matt Urwin through to the end of the 2019/20 season.
An agreement has been reached with Fleetwood Town over the signing of the 25-year-old stopper, who’s made 80 appearances for The Magpies over 18 months and two loan spells, including 26 this season.
Urwin said: “I have never played with a better group of lads or enjoyed my football this much so it was an absolute no-brainer to sign permanently. Fleetwood gave me a chance coming back from non-league and I’ll always be thankful to them for that, it just didn’t quite work out the way I wanted.
“Now I’m looking forward to the rest of the season and beyond. I think it would be a fantastic achievement to win this league and we just have to remain confident, keep doing what we’re doing and hopefully come the end of the season that will be enough.”
Chorley manager Jamie Vermiglio said: “I’m delighted we’ve been able to sign Matt on a permanent basis. He has a good attitude, fits into our mould in terms of how determined, how loyal he is and how he has bought into the team spirit. The goals against tally is a lot to do with the team and he has certainly contributed to that with some fantastic goalkeeping.”
