Chelmsford City manager Rod Stringer has announced that goalkeepers Colan Balkwell and Joe Welch have been released from the Club.
Balkwell was finally confirmed as a Chelmsford player earlier in August due to the Clarets waiting for international clearance. However, due to a lack of first-team opportunities, the American born ‘keeper has been released by the Club.
Balkwell’s counterpart Joe Welch has also left the Club after signing earlier in the summer.
The former St Albans and England C shot-stopper made five appearances this season.
Stringer has also brought-in Ross Fitzsimons as a replacement for the outgoing ‘keepers. The Clarets boss had Fitzsimons on-loan last season at Bishop’s Stortford, whilst the young goalkeeper counts Crystal Palace and Bolton Wanderers as his former clubs.
Ross has made two appearances for City thus far, with his debut being the 2-0 victory over Oxford City on Saturday, before helping the team to another clean sheet on Monday at Welling United.
