Chelmsford City have confirmed that goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimons has been called up for the England C team
Fitzsimons has been named as part of the contingency squad for the game against Estonia on November 15th.
The former Crystal Palace and Bolton Wanderers shot-stopper has made eleven appearances for the Clarets this season, conceding just 8 goals in his previous ten matches – prior to Saturday’s 4-4 draw at home to Hemel Hempstead Town.
Speaking after the game about his England call-up, Fitzsimons said: “It’s a great achievement for me.” he said. “But, it’s just a bonus, for me the focus is staying where we are in the league and pushing for promotion.”
“We’re a team, I’m only called into action when I need to. It’s not me personally it’s the team as a whole.
“It’s an honour for me, being born in London so it’s an honour for me.
“Whether I go there to play, or just to be involved, it’s going to be a great experience but it’s just a bonus for me. The main thing for me is to help us gain promotion”.
