Braintree Town have signed experienced defender Sean Clohessy.At the end of August, Leyton Orient confirmed that the club and Clohessy had mutually agreed to terminate the defender’s contract after a year at Brisbane Road whene he made forty-four appearances.
The 29-year-old started his career with Arsenal but left in 2005 to join Gillingham without managing to make a senior start for the Gunners.
He went on to play forty-three times for the Gills and had a spell on loan with then-Conference (National League) Premier Salisbury City before joining the Whites on a more permanent basis in the summer of 2009.
After a brief stay with Bath City, Clohessy signed for Southend United and went on to enjoy a three-year stay with the Seasiders, making 137 appearances.
He then spent one season at Kilmarnock, and helped the team maintain their top-flight status, despite a difficult season for the Ayrshire club before returning `south of the border` with Colchester United in the summer of 2014.
He made thirty-two appearances for the U`s before leaving for Orient a year later.
