Robbie Nightingale has agreed terms with Zac Barrett to become the new goalkeeping coach at Cambridge City.
The new addition to the backroom staff needs no introduction to City fans. He signed for the Lilywhites in September 2008 and apart from a couple of spells on the side lines, was an ever present in the City squad making over 350 appearances.
Barrett left City last summer and moved to Hitchin but his appearances for the Canaries were limited following a knee injury that halted his playing career. Now a fully qualified goalkeeping coach, Nightingale has moved to bring him back to City as part of his backroom team and is delighted to have him on board. He said “I am really pleased to have Zac as part of the staff at Cambridge City.
The club means a lot to him and I am sure supporters will be thrilled to see someone who is held in such high regard return to the club. I know he can’t wait to get started and I feel that his experience will be invaluable when it comes to working with goalkeepers across all levels at the club”.
The appointment of Barrett means that he joins Nightingale, Dave Theobald and Neil Midgley on a coaching staff that now consists of all former players. Barrett will begin his new role when the City squad report back for pre-season training next week.
