Gloucester City have confirmed the addition of five players to the squad.
Defender Ioan Richards joins the Tigers following his youth career at Cheltenham Town. Tom Handley, also a defender and also arriving from Cheltenham, has spent the last ten years there coming through the youth set-up.
James Bremner is another young defender signing for City following his youth career at Bristol Rovers. Jack Spark has joined from Bristol City, where the defender played in their Under-18s and 23s set-up.
Striker James Spruce is also in. Spruce joined Bristol Rovers’ academy back in May 2016 and was called up to the Wales U19s squad in September last year for games against Iceland. He has since been a a part of the Welsh youth set-up.
In a joint statement from manager Mike Cook and co-chairman Alex Petheram, they commented: “It’s great for these lads to come into the first team and shows that the approach we’ve developed at the club is hopefully now starting to work. James Bremner started training with us at the end of last season and Jack Spark came to us from Bristol City at the end of last season.
“We’re excited these lads have now joined and we’re keen to work with them developing their careers in the game. We’ll be looking to get the lads as much first-team minutes as possible, so we might look at linking in with some other local teams to try and fast track their development.”
These five new signings take this season’s tally up to nine.
