Colwyn Bay have have beaten off competition from several other clubs to sign prolific goal scorer Rob Doran from Prescot Cables.
Although Prescot are second bottom of the table, the 25-year-old Doran, who was previously with Droylsden, has already scored 12 goals this season, including a hat-trick in a 5-0 win at Burscough, and last season was the division’s third highest scorer with 26 – including four goals in the space of 19 minutes in a 4-2 win over Harrogate Railway.
Interim manager Phill Hadland said he was delighted to have sewn up the deal and thanked Prescot for their co-operation in helping it go through.
“I see Rob bringing strength, pace and goals to the side and he is a tremendous signing for us,” said Phill. “The fact that he has scored that many goals in a struggling side shows his potential and I think he will compliment what we already have here and will get a lot more scoring opportunities.”
The club, of course, will now have to wait for international clearance before Doran can make his debut, so it is touch and go if he’ll be available for the boxing Day game with in-form Trafford.
