There has been some confusion around the future of Hungerford Town forward Stefan Brown, with his club announcing a few days ago that he had left by mutual consent.
The 28-year-old, who has also represented AFC Totton, Basingstoke Town and Maidenhead United, said on Twitter yesterday: “I’d like to announce that contrary to previous reports, I’ve not left Hungerford Town FC. I’m not sure why it was announced in the first place.”
However, he has today confirmed he is parting company with the Vanarama National League South side:
“I would like to clear up this situation. As of yesterday morning, I hadn’t left the club.
“They had asked me to leave due to financial reasons, but I hadn’t accepted. Over the course of the day we sorted out a solution.
“It is with great sadness that I have to announce that I’ve officially left the football club. I’ve had some of the best memories at this club and will take them with me forever.
“I’d also like to thank the fans, who were always great to me, and I wish the club well moving forward.”
