Lincoln United centre back James Blunden has signed an FA Contract committing his immediate future to the Whites.
He celebrated in style by scoring the winner in the league game against Stamford on Tuesday night.
Chairman Ian Beaumont, commented ” We are delighted that a young, up and coming player wants to be at Ashby Avenue and see James as a big part of our future. If he keeps developing it will be very hard to keep him here.”
Manager, Sam Wilkinson added, “Ever since he stepped onto the pitch in the County Cip match against Lincoln City he has been first class. he had the short spell out injured and had to wait a week or two to get back into the side. He dealt with that well, stayed patient and focussed. When he got back in again at Rushden he was straight back in the groove.”
He played for Lincolnshire Under 18s last season and was recommended to the club by Paul Jacklin, father of United’s skipper Michael. He also turned out in the Lincolnshire League for CGB Humbertherm which would have acclimatised him to mens football but it is till remarkable how he has adjusted to the Northern Premier League.
