Shaun Cooper has been released by Sutton United and has joined National League South side Poole Town.

Cooper made seventy-one appearances in defence or midfield for the U`s after being signed in October 2014 from Torquay United and was players’ player of the year at the end of his first season.

A centre-back who can also play in midfield, he was a graduate of the youth team at Portsmouth who went on to have loan spells at Leyton Orient and Kidderminster Harriers before joining AFC Bournemouth on 2005, where he made over 200 appearances in a seven-year stay.

He subsequently played for Crawley before returning to Portsmouth, then joined Torquay at the beginning of 2014.

He had a month on loan with Poole`s league rivals Eastbourne Borough earlier this season.

Cooper made his Poole debut in the Buildbase FA Trophy on Saturday.
