Seaham Red Star have signed defender Curtis Coppen from Ebac Northern League First Division rivals North Shields.

Coppen had only re-joined Shields earlier this season after Blyth AFC folded.

He had signed for Blyth AFC in July from Morpeth Town, who earned promotion to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One East at the end of last season.

The 23-year-old, who came through the academy structure at Newcastle United, joined Morpeth in the summer of 2017 after taking part in Jamie Vardy’s V9 Academy.

Coppen went on to become a regular feature in Morpeth’s back line, making 33 appearances as the Highwaymen raced to promotion.

In his first spell with North Shields, Coppen enjoyed a successful time, winning the FA Vase in 2015 and then the Northumberland Senior Cup in 2016.
