King’s Lynn Town manager Ian Culverhouse paid tribute to his players after they knocked Port Vale out of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win at Vale Park.

Vale created the lion’s share of chances but couldn’t find a way past the National League side’s 19-year-old keeper, and were sunk eight minutes from time when another 19-year-old midfielder Sonny Carey fired into the roof of the net from 15 yards after Adam Marriott wriggled free in the area.

Former Norwich City defender Culverhouse said: “To a man they were superb and I can’t speak highly enough of them.

“It is a hell of a result for this football club.”
