Luke Garrard hailed a professional performance which saw his Boreham Wood side crowned Herts Senior Cup champions with a 2-1 win over Royston Town on Tuesday.

A superb Angelo Balanta free-kick opened the scoring before Joe Quigley doubled the lead just moments later. Scott Bridges reduced the deficit for Town with 10 minutes to play, but Wood held on for a win which pleased their manager greatly.

“I am happy and pleased with the way in which we played,” Garrard said. “I felt we were very professional, very organised in tough conditions and against tough opposition in Royston.

“We had to manage the game at times, but did that well and it is about winning. It keeps a good run going and keeps up that winning mentality.”
