York City have signed Curacao international defender Derwin Martina.

Derwin, whose brothers Cuco and Javier are also pro footballers with Southampton and AVV Zeeburgia respectively, started out in the Ajax academy in Holland, where he began as a forward before being moved back.

He left Ajax in the summer of 2014 to join RKC Waalwijk where he spent two years and made sixteen senior appearances.

In July 2016, Martina moved to Finland to join Atlantis FC in the third tier of the Finnish game.

Along with three other Dutch players, Martina was accused of match fixing in September but cleared of all charges in December.

The 22-year-old has three under-20 and three full caps for the Curaçao national team.
