Vanarama National League club Barnet have announced the appointment of Darren Currie as permanent head coach.
A favourite as a player at Underhill, making over 140 appearances for the club.
He went on to be a part of the squad that reached the Division Three play-offs, scoring one of the goals of the season away to Swansea City.
He earned moves to then-Championship sides Brighton & Hove Albion and Ipswich Town amongst others.
His near two-decade career saw him make over 600 appearances across all divisions in the Football League before finally making the step into coaching at Boreham Wood.
He has worked with John Still at Dagenham & Redbridge for a number of seasons before following him to The Hive in June 2018.
He will now take the reins of all first-team affairs on a rolling contract.
During his time in caretaker charge, he has already written his name into the history books by securing a memorable Emirates FA Cup victory away to Sheffield United.
