Nantwich Town are delighted to confirm the signing of striker Ryan Brooke.
Ryan signed late on Sunday evening and marked his debut with a goal barely a minute into the game against Stafford Rangers, getting his Dabbers career off with a bang.
He was a youth product of Oldham Athletic and had loan spells at Barrow and AFC Telford United. Upon his release from Oldham in 2012, he signed for Altrincham, where he spent a year. he then moved to Curzon Ashton in 2013 and became a fan favourite with them.
He has now joined the Dabbers and will be looking to build on his impressive debut. He has been signed on a contract till the end of the season.
Manager Phil Parkinson had this to say about why he signed Ryan: “I think it’s been glaringly obvious since Liam Shotton left the football club, it has left a massive void in that centre forward position. We’ve tried different players in there, but I think it was proved to be the right decision with 1 touch and 1 goal from Ryan.
Thats what we need from our centre forward, when the chances come along they need to putting them in the net. We ask a lot from our centre forwards to be fair. We ask them to be able to hold it, to stretch the game. We’ve got lads who can stretch the game, we’ve got lads who can hold it in. Liam could do a bit of both. I think we can see what a void he left, so that was something I wanted to address.
That’s why Ryan Brooke is here from Curzon. He’s somebody who should be playing regular football. He’s from Middlewich, so he fits the demographic of what I’m looking for to bring to the club. I just feel really lucky to be able to bring Ryan here because Curzon are a really good team. He’s been there a few seasons. It was a massive wrench for him to leave.
We’re looking to push on in this league, to get hopefully in those play off places. I think people like Ryan are definitely going to help us achieve those goals”
