Dagenham & Redbridge have expressed their concern over the proposed arrangements for continued financial support for National League clubs.
The club have said today: “Following on from yesterday’s Vanarama National League club meetings, the club is extremely concerned that despite indications that if supporters were no longer allowed into stadiums by January that the initial grant funding would be continued for a further three months, clubs have now been told that this is not the case and any future support will be made via loans.
“Many clubs have indicated that this is not an option and the prospect of our season being cancelled is now a real threat.
“Dagenham & Redbridge FC are amazed that the resultant furlough claims on the treasury made as a result of such a cancellation is calculated to be in excess of the grant funding originally indicated, and is urging the Rt, Hon. Oliver Dowden, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to reconsider this option.”
