Dagenham & Redbridge have a need to ‘firm up’ their plans regarding their squad for next season says managing director Steve Thompson.

The Daggers were one of the sides in the National League not to be involved in the relegation or promotion conversation during the recent uncertainty regarding a final outcome. The club are now eager to press ahead with plans for 2020/21, and Thompson has said in his latest update to supporters:

“If sufficient progress is made for a likely return in September, then it is our intention to resume training in August. However, I must stress that there has been no firm decision on this, and any firm plans would need to await further Government advice.

“In the meantime, we will need to firm up our plans around existing players and staff, with some unfortunately having to be released at the end of July. To assist with these plans, there will be a board Skype meeting in the next couple of weeks with all directors and Daryl McMahon to discuss our next season, which may need to include a plan A and B, dependent on the actual start date of the 2020/21 season, but rest assured, we will be ready to resume whenever that might be.”
